Is it too geeky to want to implement the same encryption/protection routine used in the save files for the BBC Micro for the Elite game for a key validation system I'm writing?

If not... anyone know where I can find it, as I can't!

The BBC Micro version of Elite didn't encrypt commander files — it's just that the data format was decidedly obtuse in various ways. There were sixteen bits of validity check, but not anything that could reasonably be called robust.

Somewhere I still have a commander editor in BBC Basic.

(If you're going to ask one of Braben and Bell, pick Bell.)
