Soundtracks

Spurred by a comment from somewhere else in the ether...

I listen to a lot of soundtracks, sometimes without actually ever seeing the film in question, so it occured to me to ponder - what are your favourite soundtrack albums, and have you actually seen the film/show in question?

Mine?

1. Bladerunner (Vangellis).
An Easy one. I've seen this film dozens of time, listened to the album hundreds of times at least.
2. The virgin suicides (Air).
A beautifully dark, haunting and moody album. I've not seen the film yet and am a little afraid in a way seeing it would spoil this album, I still would like to however.
3. Labyrinth (Bowie/Others).
Besides the wonderful 'As the world falls down' and 'Magic dance' it has several lovely atmospheric and dreamy pieces on it (Hallucination). Theres actually only one track I don't like but it's definately one of my favourite albums ever.

Hell yeah - I have way loads of soundtrack albums.

Just looking at the shelf infront of me, I see some of my favourites (in no particular order):

[b]Mortal Kombat[/b]
The movie gets slated, but I kinda like it. The soundtrack however is wonderful. From the hauntingly beutiful Orbital track to Napalm Death. Now that's what I call variation!
Note: probably seen the movie around 10-15 times. Yeah, call me a fanboy.

[b]The Lost Boys[/b]
Conveys thoughts of the movie wonderfully, and is sooooo eighties!
Probably only seen the movie about 5-6 times.

[b]The Matrix[/b]
Yeah, well, had to be on there somewhere, given I like this kinda music anyway. There's some great tracks here.
Only seen the movie three times, but own the DVD.

[b]Flash Gordon / Highlander[/b]
I'm not a huge Queen fan, but both of these are good fun album, that accurately conjure up the moods of the relevant movies.
Movie? Yeah, seen Flash about half a dozen times. Highlander? Erm, around 30 ish I guess.

The quality of the soundtracks on these movies is something that significantly adds to their ability to be rewatched IMO, as you can almost just have them on in the background.

Yeah, I know. Reminds me though - having only gotten up at 09:00 (after 4 hours sleep) I ought to get around to eating breakfast!

This looking for a job lark has really screwed with my sleeping pattern!

Just hoping I get good news back today about the interview I went for on Monday.

Just listening to a new CD I got yesterday - "The Rock Matrix" - it's a double CD compilation of "tracks that should have been in the movie" and is pretty damned good so far!
