Anyone know a way to port an iTunes database from one PC to another? (iT6)

On the menu system File > Export Library.

If you mean the actual music...copy the directory that all the music is stored in, default is C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ I believe.

Otherwise...what do you mean?

Yes, there are instructions on the web for this ...

basically (as I recall) you copy all the files across, edit an XML file which has the locations of all the music (if it isn't exactly the same drive letter etc) delete an index file and when iTunes starts up, it finds the index file missing and rebuilds from the file locations in the XML file.

You *may* lose your star ratings and last played dates though ... is that important to you?

I can find the link again if you'd like ...

The Apple instructions are here
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305451

Or here's someone else's list
01. Ensure iTunes is closed on target computer
02. Delete Library.itl and Library.xml files in target computer
These are usually found in:
Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
03. Open iTunes on source computer
04. File->Export Library
05. If your MP3 files are located in the exact same drive/folder, go to step 08.
06. Open the .xml file created in step 4. with an xml editor like Xpontus
http://xpontus.sourceforge.net/download.html#download
07. Use the Edit->Search or Replace function in Xpontus to match target to source directories.
Example: If your source MP3 files are in
C:\MP3 and target are in D:\MP3
Find What: C:/MP3 Replace With: D:/MP3
NOTE - Backslashes become forward slashes in XML file!
08. Open iTunes on target computer
09. Use the File->Import command to import your exported (& maybe edited) library.xml
10. Done - All ratings should transfer after the import.

Excellent, thanks!

I use an external drive as my MP3 player so this will help transferring stuff between home and work easier :)

You also need to set up an account on http://www.last.fm if you like your listening stats :)
