Date: 2007-04-26 06:54 am (UTC)As to Marillion; I like some of the late fish stuff (mostly Misplaced Childhood and bits of Fugazi) but I much prefer the 'Hogath years', Seasons End is the album I was introduced to them with and it remains my favourite, but Brave is also excellent.
I didn't know they were touring at the moment, I haven't actually seen them since they did a gig in Cambridge last, which was in the pub that was at the Vine; where are they playing?

Date: 2007-04-26 05:46 pm (UTC)They're playing at the Junction on (I think) the 13th of June and I shall be going!

Date: 2007-04-26 06:00 pm (UTC)Marbles I've missed out on as I'm missing the more 'recent' albums (how long have they been going now?!), I think Anoraknophobia is the last one of theirs I've bought!
The junction? Excellent, that's right on the doorstep! I'll have to see if they have any tickets left.

Date: 2007-04-26 06:13 pm (UTC)I was introduced to Marillion by a guy named Mark Kelly, spookily the same name as their keyboard player and, if I remember correctly, the only original band member left!
I'll have to beg/borrow/cadge a listen of Marbles from you so I can hear what they are doing at the moment - although I suspect their gig will be mostly the new stuff I'll be hoping for Uninvited Guest at least.
Last time I saw them Steve had a cricket bat he'd modified to play as a keyboard, was a great show :)

Date: 2007-04-26 06:19 pm (UTC)That is pretty spooky. I first heard Marillion when I found a couple of new, still shrink-wrapped CD singles on the bookshelf at home. Nobody would admit to putting them there, which I think is also quite spooky...
I've seen them once, in June 2004 - I think Steve had the cricket bat then too. It was fantastic :D

Date: 2007-04-26 06:28 pm (UTC)Regardless I'd love to hear a copy, been missing out on their recent stuff as I say.
Mystery of the hidden CDs eh? Dark secrets or interdimensional musical gateways... hopefully the latter as it's much more interesting.
I've only seen them once myself as well; and... rummages through music I have Afraid of Sunlight, Anoraknophobia, Brave, Clutching at Straws, Crash, Holidays in Eden, Best of Both Worlds, Misplaced Childhood, Radiation, Script for a Jesters Tear and Seasons End, if you'd like a copt of any of those in return - the last of which I heartily recommend if you haven't heard it; Clutching at Straws is also well worth a listen if you're not Fish-a-phobic.

Date: 2007-04-26 07:41 pm (UTC)I think I've got most of the same albums as you, except I've never heard Crash and lost my copy of Radiation years ago. I'd be extremely glad to borrow that - I miss it!

Date: 2007-04-26 10:10 pm (UTC)I should be at both the next WUS and Calling, so I'll bring along a copy of Radiation for you should you be there.
Ticket ordered for the gig, huzah!
