Much happier with the K800i, I have also found a fantastic little program for controlling text messages; MyPhoneExplorer - heartily recommended!

Oooh, I'll have a look at that when I get a spare few mins I think. :)

Btw, if you find a way to turn off the focus beep and shutter sound on the camera, do let me know!

Told you it was a nice phone. ;)

Very nice; just need to get a memory card for it, irksome new memory type.

Not been annoyed by the beeps yet, then again I have it on 'vibrate only' most of the time :)

I haven't bothered with the memory card yet, I've found the internal 70Mb to be quite sufficient for me so far. I don't use it for MP3 playing or movies (I have an MP3player for music, and my iPaq for movies) which are would suck up the memory.

Mine is silent comletely at all times (no beeps, no ringing), apart from the alarm, and the camera. The camera would be silent if I had my way, but the sounds for the camera can't be turned off as it is.

I vaguely remember that cameras can't be silent anymore, some anti stealthshot feature law/requirement or whatever?

It's not law in this country, but they can't be arsed to write separate firmwares for all English speaking countries so we all get stuck with it. Bah. Besides, my actual digital camera is silent, so why can't my phone camera be?

Apparently there is a regional firmware (which includes the English language) where putting the phone in silent mode will do it, but I don't know which region it is. It is also apparently possible to get a firmware editor and simply delete the offending sounds.

Firmware editor eh? Hmmmm, wonder just how much you can customise the UI....

A lot from what I've seen. I think "the davinci team" are the ones to look at...

Why can't they use something sensible like SD?

I suspect it's a new memory format that sony wants to push.

Ah, it's Sony, they're speshul, they always need proprietary formats so they can control the prices. Bastards.

I've just changed to the W810i after my W800i gave up on the punishment I give to phones. I really like Sony's now after being a confirmed Nokia fan.

I picked up a 4GB card for less than £30 on ebay - who meeds a seperate .mp3 player? ;@)
