Contemplation.
The last few gigs I've been to have all given me something I wasn't expecting; for example;
I went to see Suzanne Vega and ended up discovering Nerena Pallot.
I went to Robbie Williams and discovered Basement Jaxx.

Anyone else discovered some new act by accident when seeing someone else?

I went to see The Levellers (in '92 or so) and discovered The Inchtabokatables. Nobody else (or very few) in the audience knew them but everyone was impressed.

Oh, and we impressed them as the whole audience sang along to "Raggle Taggle Gypsy" which was one of the main hits by the local (then, now they're famous) folk/punk/reggea-crossover band Fiddler's Green but is otherwise a bit obscure.

Way to freak the band out, heh.

I went to Einsturzende Neubauten and discovered Mono, and promptly bought their CD. If nothing else, they were good for the novelty factor of a band who spent their entire time on stage concentrating on playing their instruments. No singing, no dancing around, just music - I think one of them was even facing away from the audience at times. Very different and rather good.

Went to see Killing Miranda, and came away in awe of Queen Adreena.

Another time, went to a festival to see KM, and came away having also seen the Cruxshadows :)

Have you bumped into D.U.S.T. yet? You'd like em. They go bounce.

Live they are 1000000 better than on record. Mikey is just the epitome of RAWK (like a mini-me of Paul RockGod Roe) and their base player is cute too. :0)

You are but one of many people to express surprise at this.

In my defense I was drunk roleplaying too busy at university. Oh yes.

Ezio: a fantastic acoustic-guitar duo, who were the support for Big Country (who had decided to go all *jazz* and so were shite) about 9 years ago. Loved them from the first number, and still do.
Voice of the Seven Woods: A massive wall of physcadelic whirling sound from just 1 guitar and a small drum kit (and some clever techno-gubbins, natch) found because it ws raining and I couldn't find the club I intended to take Mel to in Edinburgh.

ALWAYS go see the support act.
