Erm, yes- During an army exercise while at uni- I was too lazy to shave every morning (too early to get up for a student...), so I grew a beard before the exercise began. A four week exercise, which was most amusing. I had a full, ginger beard, and twirled the ends of my moustache up Kaiser Wilhelm style. I did get some rather strange looks from the Commanding Officer when I climbed up one of the cars, to examine my reflection in the wing mirror & twirl my moustache into its proper shape, while wearing full camouflage paint. Then again, I did get quite a few funny looks on that course...

And I was accused of looking like a loony Irish terrorist at some point, as I was running towards the enemy, a machine gun slung over my shoulder, my face camouflaged, a camouflage bandana tied around my head, and my beard glinting a lovely rusty red.

Who can say officer training isn't fun... (and two of the other officer cadets accused me of not taking things seriously- however, I finished that course as one of only 3 to get top marks, while they just managed to scrape a pass ;) )
