Sep. 15th, 2005 10:16 amThis article, or rather one of Blair's statements that "The terrorist attacks of the 7 July have their origins in an ideology born thousands of miles from our shores." really irked me.
What does it matter where any ideology was born? Are you a Christian Mr.Blair? Well that originated several thousand miles away as well, thank you very much1. if you want to go back to the countries roots paint yourself blue and dance around in the middle of stonehenge2.
This coupled with Mr.Clarke announcing that he was widening the criteria used to deport people whose presence in the UK was "not conducive to the public good".
What criteria next? Multiple murders? You're out. Speeding too often? You're out. Didn't get at least an 'A' at GCSE? You're out. You're a chav? You're out. Perhaps he wants to turn the clock back and just try and deport everyone who doesn't conform to the cast-in-iron religious or law requirements of the land? Where will that get us?3
Bah.
1 Not meaning to belittle said faith of course, just point to where the big J started it all.
2 A gross oversimplification of the myriad of different 'old' religions, apologies.
3 A country several thousand miles away who can thrash us at cricket more often than not for one.
