Feb. 3rd, 2005 10:13 amSo, you took the last chains from around the world and unsoldered the links. The eyes didn't watch you; there were new dawns to see and places to leave footprints of giants.
Time passes, as it does, leaving faint whispers like smoke in the minds of those who wanted to remember. For the others it became like an old jingle, cropping up every now and then in a spark in their mind that was quickly forgotten.
Places and paths stretched out promising untold adventures and excitement, all the signs were confused and contradicted each other, it became obvious in the end the choice was your own and the path was largely a matter of taste.
I don't remember now which I took, but I remember the hedges and houses that passed me by as well as a single old gnarled tree that stood haunting a corner of one golden field of wheat.
Where I'm travelling to now I'm not entirely sure, I can't look over my shoulder for fear of wanting to retrace steps that can't be bought back.
Ahead the road rolls into the mist and my steps lead me ever on.
