One of the delights of my job is the interesting world travel aspect.

Ahem.

Or rather, tomorrow I'm being shipped to Germany to go and stand in a factory to wait for the customer to realise that the problem is theirs rather than anything to do with us. Once they realise this, I can then come home, probably Wednesday.

Bah.

This is like going to Germany to change a SCSI cable isn't it?

It's meant to be nice around there (Near Hamburg apparently) but since all I'll see is a factory and a hotel bar I doubt I'll come back that impressed...

10 minutes on the duty free stands on the way home is likely all I'll get sadly.

Do you know where exactly you're going yet?

Exactly? Nope. It's just outside Hamburg apparently.

Hm, unfortunately not an area I'm familiar with. Have been to Hamburg once for a roleplay con or twice doing touristy things on the way through. Fish market is good but you have to very early in the morning to get the good stuff.

Have a good trip, anyhow.

Well, as I say, beyond a few roads I doubt I'll see much.

Sounds fun. I'd rather do that than sit here with a sore throat.

Believe me, after one or two trips the novelty soon wears off...

Up for 6:30 for the taxi to Birmingham.
Couple of hours in the airport waiting.
Hour or so flight.
Land, drive to factory for a few hours.
Stand around in smelly factory trying to communicate that it's their fault not ours.
Drive to a hotel.
Eat, probably for the first time all day.
Get bored as I'm the middle of nowhere.
Go to sleep in an unfamiliar uncomfortable bed.
Get up for flight home, etc...

Not fun.
