robinblokeBattlefield: Vietnam (BF:V), my currently online game of choice. No more online persistant games for me, oh no gollum oh no.
But I'm passing the point, such as it is. This is more for my memories list so I can come back another time and look at this 'memories' linked moment and think "God I'm sad."
Moving swiftly on however...
BF:V, I'd been playing a few games and was feeling pretty good about the fact that I was kicking everyone elses collective rears, a new map starts and the NVA (the team I was on) was outnumbered, so I pipe up 'teams' to the chat channel, but almost straight away add 'not that I mind, means more targets'. Arrogance perhaps, I was just feeling like I was in the zone.
Anyway, the last flagged post for the enemy was in their airbase and I was storming it, I ran around the corner, flicked left and a medium burst from the AK emptied the clip and took out the enemy who was lying prone by the edge of the fence, on a raised side. I ran forward and just picked up his gun. I didn't care what he was using, it really didn't matter at that moment because I just knew I'd be fine... It was an M16 with underslung grenade launcher, incidentally. That was the moment.
So; I take the flag, take out three more of the enemy and suddenly the end of round pops up, they were all dead, I'd cleared the camp solo.
My score was 41, closest other one was 26. I logged out.
High point :)

And there are just some days when every bullet is lethal and noone can escape your sights...the Zone can make a geek into a God for 10 minutes!

Date: 2004-05-16 05:32 pm (UTC)Was playing Halo and down to me against three others. I spot two of them, and know that they're trying to lure me because the third is lying in wait to sniper me. Glancing around I figure that he has to be on top of this one bit of ground if he is there, so I charge forwards and lob a plasma grenade up there, hoping I'll panic him if nothing else, if indeed he is up there.
As the explosion goes off and his corpse flies over my head and lands just infront of his team mates, I let loose with the two shots I have in my rocket launcher, both wide of their mark, hoping again to do nothing more than make them split and retreat in the face of my advance.
They do split. One left, one right, one of them getting hit by the first rocket, followed swiftly by the second rocket, leaving me advancing on the remaining player, drawing my only remaining weapon, my pistol, as his assault rifle rounds ping off my shields.
Blam, Blam, Blam - three head shots and he's down and I've won.
Now the scary thing is, I'm not usually that good at FPS games, but this was just one of those moments where you gamble everything and, against all odds, every trick shot you try just happens to work out.
Ah, gamer Nirvana.
