A few opening paragraphs to yet another story that will likely never finish being told, let your mind fill in the details and perhaps the rest of the tale.

The snow was falling as the sky rumbled overhead as if some vast hidden monster was lurking behind the sheets of grey clouds.
The man paused, looking back to the trail of footprints that were slowly vanishing under the fresh snowfall. He could just see the distant flicker of a fire from the squat grey buildings that hugged the skyline by the edge of the wood.
A faint shiver ran through him, and not from the cold, he knew it would be the last time he would see this sight, those buildings. The time had long passed since he would see any of those inside, a thought that made him close his eyes and squeeze a tear from his eyes that trailed down his cheek in an icy line.
Turning back to the road ahead he resumed walking as another gust of wind whipped his cloak up behind him forming a giant wing for a moment. He had a long road ahead.

What a lovely idea; that could be interesting :)

I've been neglecting contributions to that group myself.
