Storm

The storm clouds rolled in, a hundred shades of gray darkening the sky above. Thunder echoed faintly in the distance as the air caught the wind, bringing with it the faint, almost undetectable feeling of tension as the tempest began to rise.
Waves started to lash at the shore, the roar of the waters crashing onto the rocky beach almost drowning out the howl of the wind and the steadily increasing drum beat of the rain as it hammered against the ground.
Trees were bent back against the wind now, leaves and smaller branches swept away in the howling gale as it grew and grew.
Out in the distance a faint light flickered, a distant gleam of white almost hidden in the swell of the rolling waters, a ship was caught in the storm and the rocks and the shore were waiting for it as the storm drove it towards them.
A solitary figure stood like a frozen statue on the cliff as the ship battled hopelessly against the pull, cloaked in gray oilskins that dripped with rain. Only their head was visible, a pale looking face with clear, expressionless eyes and long dark hair that curled out like a thousand tiny snakes behind them, hissing and twisting in invisible fingers.
A thunderous crack echoed around the bay as the ship reached the rocks, a jagged boulder tearing a wound along the edge of the wooden hull as it smashed against it. For a moment it held, held safe by it's very destroyer as the sea sought to pull it further still, and smash it against the cliffs that now roared with white foam from the fury of the waves.
Then as if in slow motion it turned, the ship pulling away from the rock and falling sideways into the water, half swallowed with its mast jutting out like an arm reaching out for help.
The ceaseless pull of the water pulled it on, dragging it against the cliff and smashing it to matchwood, over and over...

Excellent job of description there. You pull the reader in from the get-go and never let the interest wane.

Got a couple of grammar problems, but since the writing is good, I forgive you for them. ;)
