Revolutions
Nov. 13th, 2003 09:16 amThere are to my mind two (it was one, but then someone reminded me of another) films that have ever had decent sequels, these being Alien/Aliens and X-Men/X2.
Aliens takes the idea from Alien and runs with it, turns it completely on it's head and adds cocaine, in short it rocks.
X2 is a very good film, a worthy sequel, extra character development, interesting new characters some nice new effects and developments.
All of which seem sadly lacking from Revolutions - no new interesting characters, a plot extension that seems to saunter along rather than really grip you, the same old fights (the smith fight lasts way too long and just had me thinking 'just get it over, please') no real explaination and the same old characters used in the same ways. It gets the 'watch it to find out what happens - but don't really care' award.
5.5/10
