I've just successfully fixed one of my PC's. The power supply was randomly cutting out and so, I bought a new one and replacing it was damned easy. I've always shyed away from replacing two components in computers: power supplies and motherboards; the latter because of the cost and fragility the former because of paranoia and worrying about mixing up connections, but frankly it was something a ten year old with a screwdriver could have done.
Always nice when something you think is complicated turns out to be nice and easy, makes the world that little bit easier to understand.

Power supplies are cool so long as you don't do what I do (mistake the 110V/240V switch on the back for a fuse holder and flip it whilst power is connected. BOOM!). Motherboards I still avoid like the plague as I can never work out which processors fit where...

Darn it. I installed a 400Watt unit in the old PC a few months ago and I have a spare 300Watt unit. You could have had it gratis if I'd known.
