Hmmm....quite a few of those aren't so much 'bad', more sort of 'overhyped' or 'films you love to hate'.

Actually, I liked AI very much. I'm not so sure it falls into the "overhyped films that failed to please" category so much as it was a victim of bad marketing. All the ads and trailers for it (in the US, at least) played up the Spielbergian parts and downplayed the Kubrickian parts...so people were expecting to see this perky, upbeat, shinyhappy ET-as-a-robot-boy flick and what they really got was a dark, cynical philosophical film.

It didn't make the kiddies happy.
