But no aliens

Nightshade? Bunnymen, illegible, mouse, dead, alarm and latin.
That’s the scribbled notes that are all I have left of the hazy memories of the dream last night. And it was extremely vivid; even as I woke up I could feel it fading away, woke up to my alarm clock which butted in at a crucial moment - of course.
It was sharply realistic, yes, but there was a whole sense of unreality about the whole thing, as if it was all a facade, which of course it was.
I was dead, or dying - for some reason or other, I can't remember why. But this enabled me to somehow to become part of an order of wizards - or at least to be apprenticed to one of them. I was sat, well knelt, at my masters feet (or mistress, I have no idea who they were, although I seem to remember that I -did- know who they were) and they were initiating me with all the others there to see me.
A message was read out, a message from someone who wasn't there a letter... which was all in Latin, helpfully. The only word I remember was 'vim' (Strength?) amongst many others forgotten.
There was a mouse... I can't remember what or why, but I think they were one of the wizards as well, I think they were dying...
And at the end, I was selecting myself a theme song, or rather a theme band - one of the groups was Echo and the Bunnymen, the other, I -think- but I am unsure, was 'Nightshade' I was inclined to go for Echo, but someone convinced me to go for the other one. At this point an important announcement was about to be made, the tension was rising and everyone was waiting for something to be said...
And then my alarm went off, bugger.
