Nothing like blasting a 5.56mm round through a couple of hapless peoples heads whilst flashblind to cheer you up.

Moving swiftly sideways and since this morning has taken a distinctly band related turn how about a mini-meme of which bands you'd love to see live? I can't reduce my list less than four, so four - for the purposes of this at least - will be the magic number. In probable order of preference, for me at least, these are...

1. Portishead.
Amazingly unlikely ever to reform and play again sadly, their NY concert was absolutely amazing and their coordination of a string orchestra, singing, scratching, drums and a variety of other instruments is completely spellbinding.
2. Pink Floyd.
Just because. Unlikely to play except if they survive to a anniversary number and do a couple of one off gigs, missed their haydays but even so a gig would be good.
3. Duran Duran
Allegedly doing a new album, which will hopefully mean a tour next year, hopefully. Reformed at least and actually playing gigs, which at least gives a better chance than the last two.
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers
Still gigging, still playing and still totally funktastic.

Apparently the Australian Pink Floyd Show is actually better than Pink Floyd themselves these days, because they play all the old stuff (which Pink Floyd often refuse to do now) and do a really good imitation. I'd love to see them one day - tbey tour the UK a lot.

I've seen the Aussie Pink Floyd Show - they played in the Corn Exchange, and they were absolutely blinding.

1. The Cure
I have done before. I will do again as long as they are touring. They rock my world.
2. David Bowie
He's just The Man. He's aged extremely well and, as I have found out, I like most of his music from each era. Fairly unlikely though, did catch the BBC concert he did on TV, that rocked.
3. Smashing Pumpkins
Back around 1995 - 1996 before Mr. Corgan went all goffick like. My brother was really into them, I only picked up on them much later, missing my cahnce to catch them when they were good.
4. NIN
They were the first band that I got into in a big way, shortly before the cure. I've heard people tell me stories about how they saw NIN back when they were supporting Guns and Roses (Guns and Roses!!) on tour. I can't imagine what is must have been like to be there and see this first raw performance. That would have been cool.

I saw them support G'n'R in Mannheim about 10 years ago, I think.
They didn't fit the bill at all. The second support were Skid Row (with Sebastian Bach so off his rocker that he fell off the stage at one point), so you had two hair rock/metal bands and one strange one. They were booed and had things thrown at them.
The sound was shit (as so often with minor support acts) so I wasn't too impressed then as you really couldn't tell if they were shit or just the sound. Also, my musical taste hadn't quite expanded in that direction yet.

It was. Even if one of the most memorable moments of the gig was Rob H almost geting trampled in the pit.

Completely unrelated but meh..
