I'm looking for something new;
My playlist at work includes AES DANA, A-Ha, Air, Apollo 440, APB, Blur, Carter USM, Crash test dummies, David Bowie, DM, Duran Duran, Endorphin, Foo Fighters, FLA, Garbage, James, Jane's, Marillion, Marilyn Manson, Mesh, Muse, PSB, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Chili's, Project PitchFork, Space, The Cure, Prodigy, U2, Tool and VNV... any suggestions?

Any particular genre you're looking at here?
Mellow? Heavy?
I've got nearly 1000 songs on my playlist here, throw me a bone :)

Upbeat, wierd or bouncy. I have enough depressing stuff already ;)
Hmmm, time to add Wierd Al to the playlist.

Hmm.. I don't generally do upbeat and bouncy myself, so this could be tricky.

Kelly Osbourne, cause we all need a good laugh from time to time (plus some of it isn't that bad - can't believe I just said that).
Wierd Al as you've already mentioned.
Certain tracks by Bowling for Soup.
The Bangles
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Crematory - some of their stuff (not bouncy, but not bad).
Did I see Depeche Mode in your list?
Diesel Boy.
Gene Loves Jezebel (again not especially bouncy)
Goteki
Iron Maiden (I bounce around when listening to 'em)
Joachim Witt
Judas Priest (get "Hellbent for Leather")
Kompressor (*waves at Ozzy*)
Midnight Configuration
Neil Young
Our Lady Peace
Pink
Pitchshifter
PWEI
Mr. Zombie either solo or with band

That enough ideas for ya?

actually briefly saw the Queen's at a concert once, but the sound system was pants so couldn't really catch them well.

Spot the odd one out...

There's no Pixies on that list . . . you do listen to Pixies, don't you? If not, you could maybe start with Doolittle. Jimmy Eat World are very poppy too. You could try their self-titled album. Borders may well have snippets you can listen to, or of course there are the Evil Filesharing Networks.

Doolittle I have, I've not strayed further into pixieness than that.
I generally use the filesharing networks to sample an album I'm tempted on or buy one off songs that aren't available anymore - well, thats my excuse anyway.

Thanks!

aargh, I was going to say Pixies too

but yes, Pixies, and have you considered some PJ Harvey?
Also I don't think you can go wrong with The Breeders, or The White Stripes,
What do you know about Fugazi? their most recent album is great (I can't remember the name at all) but I think they are sort of an aquired taste.

I also love the Cowboy Junkies (it's sort of mellow, singer songwriter stuff with a country tinge, but don't let that put you off)
Have fun

In a tradition of bands starting with 'The' The Hives make a very pleasing shouty, crunchy guitar sound.

That'd be squiffy; incidentally is their name anything to do with the Marillion album of the same name?

Nothing to do with Marillion. It's a US Army 'Namism - a contraction of "Fucked-Up Situation". The band Fugazi are a seminal hardcore band from Washington DC. The first mini-alum ("Fugazi") or the album "Repeater" would probably be good places to start. I can't remember whiat the recent album's called, actually. I haven't listened to it much, as I've moved and it's still buried somewhere.

If you like them , then I'd recommend also checking out Shellac and mclusky.

I was going to point out that their lead chappy was in Minor Threat etc but I think that would have gone right over robins head.

Anything from RUSH. 30+ years of albums to choose from and an extreme amount of depth to the lyrics.

Or Type O Negative for just good gothy fun.
