Ok, there are quite possibly one or two gun nuts (including myself) on my list; so in the three critical categories, which is your preferred firearm...
Pistol, SMG, Assault rifle (or other)
Me?
Pistol - Probably have to go for the Five seven which is actually made to directly compliment my favourite SMG...
The P90 a nice compact, high magazine weapon, that looks damn nifty. (After my other favourite the MK MP5)
And for assault rifles I'll have to go for the...
Steyr AUG Just nice.
Note: I've not actually used any of these weapons, not that I'd say no to some target shooting, and my firearms experience is strictly limited to clay and static shooting of shotguns, which really isn't any comparison.
I also, incidentally, have no delusions what firearms are for.

Date: 2003-09-26 03:09 am (UTC)SMG i have a lot of time for the Tommy gun, cos its a classic weapon with lots of style. Other than that i do like the Ingram Mac-10 quite a lot.
Assualt Rifle would probably be either the AK-78, or the SLR, but since you said 'or other', i'd go for Lee-Enfield .303 rifle as a solid and reliable workhorse, or the Winchester .60-66 as a fine weapon (really, the gun which won the west) and a good compliment to the peacemaker.

Date: 2003-09-26 05:07 am (UTC)SMG: p90 also. High magazine count and unique design, with nice stopping power.
Rifle: FAMAS..the only french designed firearm worth a damn, with its nice burst mode it really packs a punch.
GOd i play CS far too much.

Date: 2003-09-26 05:32 am (UTC)I suspect she was using Beretta 93R's as the submachine pistol, and there was a UMP45, which makes a lovely 'budda budda budda' type noise :)

Guns?
Date: 2003-09-26 12:20 pm (UTC)Having fired 9mm pistols, .45 pistols, .303 and 7.62 rifles, 9mm submachine guns, 7.62 LMG's and HMG's....Shotguns of many varities and other stuff that is mainly much of a sameness, and having had some formal training in actually using the buggers, i tend to have somewhat esoteric views on firearms, as i tend to like things that i HAVEn't handled or fired. MP5 is an old one, but still class, and even after some familiarity, i rate it as #1 especially with its many different mods. Rifle? SLR (Belgium Model) Full and Semi Auto, reliable, solid, and has enough clout to stop most things (7.62 FMJ load, standard military) scope enabled if required.....and as for as pistol - these are by far the most dangerous weapons for idiots who have no idea what they are doing - FAR too pointable when allies are around. I prefer 10mmm to nine, so its going to be a Colt 10mm, large mag capacity, reliable, cool looking and solid. Also customises nicely (match trigger, cutts compensator you get the idea)
Gun NUT tho? Nah, not followed shooter since i stopped playing DoT and other Larp modern games.

Date: 2003-09-26 02:15 pm (UTC)SMG's.. Hmm I'll do this if I can have a machine pistol as well. My Machine Pistol of choice would probably have to be the Ares FMG Folding Sub Machine gun. It Fits In Your Inner Pocket!
For my SMG it would have to be the H&K PDW. It may look gimmicky, but I'm seeing great things from this peice of kit in the future.
For my assault rifle, well it would have to be H&K again. The H&K G36 Gotta love it.

Ther is a soft spot in my heart for the Calico stupid as it looks.
For a machine pistol I would have to go for the Ares FMG Folding Sub Machine gun. It Fits In Your Inner Pocket! Although it's called an SMg it's configuration is more that of a MAchine pistol. It's a fine line anyway.
