One of the advantages of working in IT is that you are usually guaranteed that sooner or later your boss will ask you to explain what you're doing. Now this, some might think, is not a good thing - who wants their boss on their shoulder all the time (and admittedly I've trained mine quite well and he doesn't bother me very often) but this can be lots of fun as well, as this gives you a chance to try out a variety of new jargon terms (known sometimes as the star trek effect) that you've just made up to guage their reaction or to see how much they've mastered the art of nodding and grinning (one of lifes most important skills).

For example;
Boss: So, what are you doing now?
You: I've just finished the preliminary psuedostructure for the transnetwork subinterface for the combifunctions.
Boss: -blink blink- -nod nod- Keep up the good work. -wanders off-
You: Result.

* I am well aware this is likely an oxymoron
** Note that it is not entirely unlikely that several, many or all of the terms generated by the above table may actually exist, but this just goes to prove my point in the first place.
