umm, probably the not a goth option, but I happily claim to be a drak hippy...see I know I have the New Rocks, but I wear them with tie dye laces, and dressing like a goth takes effort I just don't have...plus, what goth loves the Grateful Dead? And I stopped writing poems years ago, the world had suffered enough! tee hee N.
You forgot the "used to be one, in the good old days, aye those were the days when I were young...." category. I would have fallen into that, having left my goth days far behind by now and bought into corporate subculture....
I once saw Jim Morrison described as a protogoth and decided to adopt the term.
I've been wearing black since 1969 (with brief forays into purple, scarlet and neon yellow, usually as stripes). I don't think I like the Goth music (well, I've been exposed to bits that I don't much like, though I tend to avoid it). I do write poetry.
I grew out of angst. Or it burned off. Or something.
I've never read Poe or Byron, I can't write poetry. I turned up to Kensal Green wearing *gasp* a white t-shirt, and I don't have the back of my hand stapled to my forehead. Oh and I've been known to headbang. Hmm.. demi-Goth?
