I was trying to format a table to put a picture of a musical note in the first (invisible) column and the lyrics in the second; but whenever I did it screwed up the positioning of the 'comments' thingy.

Nope, it just seems LJ is overly anal about closing html sections, which I've grown rather lazy about doing...
