It had started raining again. The view outside the cave was a rolling wave of water as sheets after sheet poured down outside, the earth grumbling quietly, nearly lost against the thunder and roar of sound from the rain itself.
The storm had been lashing the small forest for several hours now. At first the light from the fading sun had painted pinkish patches in the sky that had softened the feel of it. But now, with the light long since faded, only the barest glimmer of light lit the clearing outside from the half-clouded moon and the occasional star.
