Icky foot situation, really, don't read this if you have a senstive stomach or are eating

Having purchased a fine shiney pair of new work shoes yesterday today I am wearing my old ones as the back of my left foot is covered in two huge blisters that are exceedingly painful; when I got home last night (on reflection going to the gym was probably bad idea) I checked my foot and found I had two large swollen blisters there, obviously inflated with something; so in the interests of scientific curiosity I decided to lance them both, that plus they bloody hurt and I figured it was payback. They weeped a load of clear liquid that I have *no* idea what is is, and deflated after a bit more ethusiastic stabbing, to 2 flat sections of skin that just hurt.
Shoes, bah.

try this next time:

get a needle, put some thread on it, and run it through the blister (so you have a bit of thread coming out at each end of the blister) then snip the thread leaving it in the blister.
The serium will empty out, thus releiving the pain, but the skin cover isnt zapped off. Any more fluid will come out via the thread and as the area heals the thread will just come out.

I just poked a hole in it and squeezed the liquid out, leaving the skin covering it.
