Evolution of music
Dec. 3rd, 2002 11:56 amI've just been reflecting on my musical evolution through the ages, it's been a fairly random series of changes, but presented here for your own amusement and for posterity in general, I give you my evolution of music :-
12: Focal age (or number) of my existance, about the only albums I can remember are The Wombles Christmas album and a pile of Abba stuff.
13-15: Principally Dire Straits, few other memorys although I made repeated attempts to music copy soundtracks from computer games (mostly BBC's) sad. Also a spinkling of 80's cheese.
16: My first encounter with the world of Goth (awww) music flipped at this point to the Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Carter USM, Jean Michelle Jarre, Marillion.
17-22: The world of Indy and Rock; Faith no more, Nivarna, Nine Inch Nails, Janes Addiction, Guns and Roses. This is when I first seriously started collecting CD's. First contact with the Red Hot Chili Peppers :)
23-26: Post uni slump, music sort of fizzled out and I didn't listen to it as much; crawled more into 80's cheese here such as Duran Duran, Ah-Ha, UltraVox; but also Suzanne Vega.
27-present: All over the place, falling more towards trance/industrial at the moment, although it can change by the week; principal sounds are goth, rock, ambiant, trance, industrial, soundtracks. Principal played names are Portishead, Garbage, Pink Floyd, Prodigy, Cure, Incubus, Depeche Mode, Linkin Park, FLA, VNV Nation, Ultraviolence, RHCP.
The future? Who knows, one thing for sure, no Country and Western or (C)rap.
