Ooo, my first ever spat at DJ'ing is confirmed, on the 21st Jan I get to terrorise people in the Calling with my own particular brand of musical... whatever... erm... time to start thinking about a set I suppose!

What to do, what to do, options are...

* Ye olde 80's cheese, mixed in with a bit of 'classic' goth and odd wierd song
* Bouncy/Industrial bleepy stuff, but then one of the other DJ's may well be doing the same
* A random mix possibly following some kind of theme
* Whatever I can find in my collection that someone in the club might actually ~like~

Suggestions? Considering it -is- a goth club...!

On the plus side, it's the first set, so noone really minds what I play as not many people are there.
On the minus side, it's the first set, so it'll be difficult to guess if anyone actually liked it!

There'll be a reasonable number of people there for the last half-hour or so, but at the beginning you'll be able to make any particularly egregious fuckups without an audience, should you so desire.

Well, I've never DJ'ed ever before, so that gives me half an hour to work out what all the equipment does ;)

Cool!

Asking what the others want to play on the night might be an idea so you don't double up too much in style or even tracks.

I can lend you some obscure German industrial/neofolk if you want.

If you're looking for obscure, I have a CD that I can guarantee no one there has heard before (only 250 copies made, I have one of the six that were sent out of New York City). If you'd like, I'll send the disc with Evan to the next game, but I'll need to have it back when you're done with it (I can't get another copy and it has sentimental value).

It's not really goth-y (I think), it's got more of a folk-y type feel to it (sort of) but a few of the songs have a armageddon kind of theme to them. I think it'd be easier if you listened to it... I don't know if I would recognize goth-y music if I heard it.

You can have a Puressence track at pretty much any Calling. All you have to do is ask. Not the next one, though - I'm having the evening off for alcoholic reasons.

I don't actually have any of their stuff... recommend a song or two and I'll see what I can download :)
