Fine evening catching up with a good friend last night and fine entertainment too; once again I bowed to the cinema wisdom and watched a film I'd heard of but considered purely kids' stuff. The film in question being The Iron Giant a wonderful tale of, erm, an Iron Giant a young kid and the terrors of 50's America. The animation was simply wonderful, the story and characters were real enough that it swept you in and it kept a good pace throughout. How the animators can give so much expression to to a (basically) faceless lump of metal was wonderful. You do need a shred of a kid inside you to appreciate some of it, but it's another film that got me there and I ended up trying my eye a little after it, sucker for heartstring moments in movies that I am. So order watch or borrow it, it's an excellent film :)
