Someones birthday today at work, he brought in cakes - I had a cinamen swirl. I met him at the canteen just before and he mentioned it was his birthday, to which I replied "25 again eh?". Pausing for thought for a moment I wonder why I chose 25 (Apart from the fact that he is blatently older than 25!) it's some kind of neutral age? Maybe for me, now sadly past 25 and several years on; is there a neutral age for each bracket - I mean pre 20 everything past 20 seemed ancient to me, once I hit 20 itself things began to seem a little more concrete as regards to age and 25 then 30 became the next milestones. Maybe it's just me wishing back to the last milestone I passed before I hit the next one next year (oh gawd).
Fear of the future or fear of age I wonder? 30 is after all another number and it's only significant because of the numerical system we use - after all the significant ages would be 16 and 32 if we counted in hex. Do numbers have such significance or am I just getting shallower?
Maybe I'm just counting years and 30 seems like a halfway point or something, as the 'best years' slide away day by day.
Maybe I should just finish my cake.
