More fun than puppies on a mudslide!
Aug. 13th, 2002 09:33 amHad bootloads of fun in Counterstrike last night, especially in the final game, where after a little bit of sillyness (my fault, buhahahahaha) regarding the TMP SMG (basically nothing more than a dink gun) due to a lack of cash our entire team started using Mac10's and changed their names to 'Mr.Mac10', 'Dr.Mac10', etc etc; The Mac 10 having all the accuracy and lethality (in Counterstrike anyway) of an irate squirrel throwing acorns. So much fun, I was in stitches laughing.
On an unrelated note my guild has broken it's alliance with another guild and slagging off from both sides has started, which is painful to watch as I have friends in both guilds; I've posted an appeal for calm and sensibility and a remembrance of good times but people are in heated flame mode and frankly when people get like that all they want to do is make the other side look cr@p, not calm down... which saddens me.
What is it with flame wars, it's almost like the Jerry Springer of irc/lists/whatever, do people get off on slagging another person off, on making them look bad or posting derogatory statements about other people to the general public? I really can't understand that mindset at all, now I'm sure I've said one or two bad things here and there occasionally, but I've never done a character assassination, flame war or suchlike. What drives people to do such things? And over such trivial issues people can explode?!?! Rules changes, kill steals, rumours...?
"Can't we all just... get along" The Joker
Obviously 'not really', my basic opinion of the human species is in general we are a belligerent, irate and generally confrontational species usually only concerned with ourselves, our analogy to a virus in The Matrix isn't far wrong really. There are a exceptions out there to this, but conflict is something we excel in, especially when killing each other - just look at history and find some kind of time when we weren't busy massacring, persecuting or blowing up each other.
Bah.
