that explains why dewy is still with me even now, he got no stripes so coulld not move fast enough away from me....

Whilst exhibt B, Charlie the Chipmunk has much smaller, ill-defined and 'uncool' stripes, curved even, which would surely make him spin madly on the spot.

So what you need is a badger's head on a chipmunk's body. The larger size of the head would overcome the rotational tendencies of the smaller body, while the body would provide angular momentum and enable directional adjustments.
