Rah! Wide awake despite not much sleep at all; feeling hyper due to excessive dancing last night which wore me out - this may not make much sense but it's the reason why.
Huzah for [livejournal.com profile] raggedy_man's fine bouncy set; not exactly goth, not exactly anything but definately him!
Quite busy too but on a skewed to one side thingy, saw several people I've not seen for too long!
Had a freaky dream about learning how to play a guitar in a giant fishtank in a zoo whilst trying not to be seen, my tutor was a helpful mermaid who kept forgetting I needed air to breathe. But my sub-aqua riffs rocked!
Also steak sarnies before bed+++

Is that the one you use gloves to control a virtual guitar on?

ARRRRRRRRRGH!

They're still at the kambar. They're holding on to them for you though, just rang them. You can ring them when they're closed on 842725 and when they're open on 357503.

Sorry!

"not exactly goth"
hurm...
okay, so not all of it was but the vast bulk of it happily fitted into whats been played there before and definetly covers 'dark alternative'.
does anyone really know what 'goth' is any longer? from my view it seems to be more of a meeting of assorted scenes rather than a scene in its own rights, or at the very least thats what it comes across as at the Calling.
Goth, Industrial, and New Romantics/80's Dark Desire (yuck, I hate that term!) are what it is billed as playing and those cover very very different elements of music (and wtf is Goth, seeing as its been around for 20+ years its going to open up a big can of worms to cover it).

sorry, just using your LJ as a talking point and your comments as a springboard for whats going around in my head.

Genres are pretty generic things really and vary person to person on who you ask; but certainly there are core things that can be identified as such.

I'd definately have labelled your set as 'alternative' and I liked it loads. :)

Hell, I'd play the spice girls* if I thought I could get away with it there ;)

* Viva, their one good track.

'alternative' is a good label for it, although I think its justified in having 'dark' at the front (dear lord that sounds pretentious, fear me for I am the Dark Alternative DJ Raggedyman!).
I dunno, I just find the idea of having a goth night for goth stuff when goth is such a fragmented and unusable term a bit wierd and it can get on my nerves somewhat.

and thanks for enjoying the set, btw was it you that put fanmail on the request sheet?
