I recommend the following three things

1. Fructis shampoo. My hair has definately been much better since I started using this stuff.
2. Hovis multi grain loaf. A light white(ish) loaf filled full of poppy seeds, whole grains and loads of little seeds and bits and pieces, nummy!
3. Gü chocolate souffles are absolutely amazingly yummy. Recommendation: leave the lid on when you microwave them so they explode - even nicer!

Brand names do vex me so.

I keep seeing "fuck this" shampoo, and wincing. And the lady giving out free samples of Gü at Tesco was most upset when I asked what was genito-urinary about them.

Still, I guess I'd rather wash my hair in "fuck this" than anything from the Vileda Hair Institute.

I think Hovis multi grain loaves contain millet, alas. Not a problem for most people, but definitely for me. )-8

1. Fructis shampoo
Sounds interesting. Any idea whether it's okay with sensitive skin?

2. Hovis multi grain loaf
Yes, it's not bad, but it's still not a patch on home-made bread. We've got a Panasonic SD-253, and I'm currently eating sarnies which are made with granary bread, and wholemeal bread with flaked onion. Yum! :-)

3. Gü chocolate souffles
Check out Nigella Lawson's recipe for (IIRC) "Baby bundt cakes" in "How to be a Domestic Goddess". Pretty much exactly the same thing, but without the preservatives of course, and you can choose your own level of chocolateyness... 8-)

choose your own level of chocolateyness

Alas, I've now tasted Rococo Plus Noir Que Noir. 99% cocoa solids, and I could still take it like a man. In terms of levels of chocolateyness, there's nowhere left to go. )-8

1.
Not sure I'm afraid, all I know is my hair likes it :)

2.
Oh yes, home-made bread is yummy. I had some that [livejournal.com profile] vyvyan had made and it was scrummy!

3.
I have a recipe somewhere from my mum for little pot'o'chocolates, they were always scrummy. May have to track down that book, ta!

You have achieved chocolate nirvana when you can get a chocolate rush by just smelling it. :)

I've had 99% choc too, and I would say that it doesn't really taste very "chocolatey", just "cocoaey"... And it desiccated my mouth... But I was *very* happy for quite some time afterwards... ;-}

I have been using Fructis recently because it doesn't contain any cinnamon (most seem to, because it's a very powerful anti-UV agent, apparently). Before I realised the problem, I had horrendous dandruff that wasn't shifted by anything. Since I'm very allergic to cinnamon anyway, I don't eat it, but I didn't realise so many bathroom products contain it until one night I had a bath in some Radox herbal bath stuff, and ended up feeling like my hands were double normal size with someone sticking needles into them all night. When I checked the ingredients, sure enough, hexyl cinnamal, which turns out to be the active ingredient in cinnamon (aka cinnamon oil). I also found on doing a bit of web searching that people who work with concentrated cinnamon oil often develop allergies to it similar to mine. Since then, I have avoided the stuff like the plague, and my dandruff has all but gone.

Oh, and yay — another SD253 owner!

I really should get around to posting the finalised version of my cheesyloaf recipe. My oaty wholemeal recipe is here.

Got any interesting recipes you've developed? (-8

Erm, well, I never had any trouble opening it or tried to eat it.
I think you'll find most shampoo/soap tastes horrible.

yes, but i'm a cat. I use my teeth to do many things that are usually done with hands.
and yes, soap does taste revolting, only fructis tastes of pear flavoured soap, and i hate pear :P

Ew ew yes, I used to do that and then I gave up using it. Or I bashed it on the shower but felt guilty about bashing people's showers.

Interesting recipe - but we don't usually have oats or oatbran, so it might have to wait awhile! W.r.t. choice of flour - we buy ours in bulk from Daily Bread. The Manitoba white is fantastic, and there are a variety of wholemeals: currently using the "whole flour", but also using "country malt" - basically Granary(tm) flour without the ridiculous price tag. We generally buy 16kg of white, 5kg of wholemeal, 5kg of malt at a time...

...As for recipes, we also get a load of the dried onion flakes from DB. Just add 25-50g to any normal recipe (in the mix, not as "raisin/nut"), plus a dash of extra water. Fantastic sweet-ish lunchtime loaf, perfect with cheese/salamis/ploughmans... :-)
