Back after a lovely weekend away with the ever wonderful the_mendicant. The Netherlands is a lovely place, very friendly people, clean streets and a lovely vibe about the whole place. The only bad thing was as usual no orange squash (this is really a personal thing, I need it to survive) and the streets and roads all merge into one, trams, cars, bikes and pedestrians all battle for space... well, they have neatly allocated spaces but I suspect you need to be a native to make head or tail of it all...

Sounds like a lovely time! I've always wanted to go to the Netherlands too, but never yet made it there -- somewhere to go in the future, though. For some reason I seem to be acquiring a lot of friends in Belgium, though, so it may have to move down the queue a little...

I spent 3 years living in Belgium and most of the best bits can be done in a day - believe me, you'd have more fun in Amsterdam!
