Many many years ago, after the advice of the ever knowledgable [livejournal.com profile] philw I bought a fine pair of german para boots. These boots have been with me for many years now and have steadily degenerated until the back heel of one of them has fallen apart so much it rubs when I walk. The rest of the boots are just fine, but sadly they've reached a state where it's just not repairable.
It's sad to see them go, but sometimes you have to move on.
Walk on silently my size 7 friends.

I'm currently displaying my defunct original 80's pixie boots on a shelf in my bedroom.
Can't let them go *sniff*

I've run out of room for boots; and the only way to stop me wearing these is to *sniff* throw them.

Well at least you've managed to get years of wear out of them. I still got my new rocks that after having for 4years still haven't managed to break them in :o(

How I feel for you. I had the original pair of DMS boots I was issued with when I joined the RAF in 1983 until I left in 1996. They went through a helluva lot with me and bore plenty of battle scars including a rip across the toe cap where I fell out of 4-tonner and they caught on a cleat and stopped me from crushing my skull. I still remember how comfy they were and also remember every single blister they inficted on me as I broke them in.

My docs haven't lasted a year this time... I remember when they lasted ages. So I need to find a new everyday boot.

Para boots, go check the army and navy. Once they break your feet in they are soooo comfy.

Two choices: go to Lion Yard: there's a cobbler. Ask them to replace the soles and heels, they do a perfect job. OR: buy a new pair...
