Ick and yuckypoo. My fine herb n' chicken bagette at lunch was ruined! I, as one does, decided to purchase some quality fresh foodstuff from the Tesco emporium, thinking that a tasty sandwich and some refreshing OJ at lunch would be just the ticket. Alas, my plans were for naught. For, despite the alarmingly powerful smell of disinfectant around the deli counter I purchased myself six slices of tasty looking chicken. However on returning home and carefully constructing aforementioned bagette I discovered to my taste bud's horror that the chicken was throughly embedded with the taste of the disinfectant that had been hanging in the air around the deli counter, even now I have a bit of it as aftertaste. Ick!
Thus, Tesco be warned, I am going to complain. I have the remaining slices of my hapless lunch, I have my receipt and I will have justice! I'm not one to normally cause a fuss over something like this (as the Mars Corporation can attest) but this has my hackles up - they ruined my sandwich!!
More details as the war effort against food continues, later this evening.

Gack!

Too right you should complain - it's only a small step from disinfectant fumes to disinfectant in the food, really.

You're lucky to be alive, man!

I wouldn't have eaten any of it but taken it back straight away.

BTW, any luck on the poster/flyer front?

Blame my hunger, I wasn't sure if it was really smelling or just the bag had the smell...

Posters/fliers are on my 'to do' post-it, which should get done next day or two

The bag smelling of disinfectand would have been enough. I don't keep my apples or bread in an empty washing powder box, either...

Cool re the flyers!
