As a staunch atheist, cynic and all around 'receptive to spooky wibblings' as a rock I have been looking for things to pass the time before I snuff it and turn into so much fertilizer.
Several ideas have panned out, one portraying to the fate of the earth in general and the other to myself.
The earth, frankly, is in big do-do regarding humanity as we are probably the worst thing to land on it since that comet of yesteryear that did for the dinosaurs, no more dino steaks for us.
That said I can see a small but hopeful path of light emerging from unification of humanity, which I believe is necessary for us to survive as a planet in order to go one day without someone somewhere on this ball of rock being horribly brutalised.
The vision works something like this...
Music, religion, politics, marketing and other animals are all trying to search for something that is key to us all, at least it seems so to me, some spark that will have the whole damn world watching or thinking the same thing, the same thought at the same point together.
At that point we should be linked by technology should have understanding such that the buzz of electric signals that is our minds can be stretched out across radio (or other) signals across the earth together to form a mass cohesive mind.
This mind will hopefully unite us and merge thoughts in such a way to look down on us all, humanity at that point will become the meat and bones, our daily lives will fall below what the mind holds and can conceptualise. To it we will be as ants below it, but ants that sustain it and move it. The mind will nurture these ants and then look outwards, finally away from the petty bickerings of below and out to the universe beyond to search for other minds.
I was going to write a story about that, maybe I still will.
For me at least as part 2 of this tale I intend to make a list of every music genre I can find and then find at least one song in that genre I like. That is if this project doesn't go the way of all the others I've done, which is to say the fuzzy back of my brain where the winged monkeys herd floating marshmallow sheep over chocolate lakes.
It'll keep me off the streets if nothing else.
