Where have I been; well...

Friday I went to probably the last Full Tilt I could make; various wonderous people were there like [livejournal.com profile] duranorak, [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat, [livejournal.com profile] ukmonty (!!!) and [livejournal.com profile] davywavy. Much dancing and stomping until by the final song my feet were filing for separation. Ouch.

Saturday was shopping/strolling in Camden with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] duranorak, which was nice - more new stuff from Ultimae was in at the dream temple, rah. And as ever the temple to doughnuts was good :)
And finally manage to crawl over to [livejournal.com profile] whotheheckami and [livejournal.com profile] the_mendicant's place for a party which was very... different, aye. But [livejournal.com profile] the_mendicant was there so it was wonderous, as she is :) happy me.

Sunday was Granny visiting, who is now slightly less mad than she was, having recovered from a minor stroke earlier in the year; she's well enough to complain about the holiday home she's in at the moment so she must be feeling better.

Monday Was a trip over to Portsmouth for an upgrade that ranks as one of the most pointless days at work I've ever done; with this plus my subsequent visit back to see [livejournal.com profile] the_mendicant (yay) in the evening I dread to think how far I've travelled in the past few days, bleh.

Tuesday is here, my hair from [livejournal.com profile] faerierhona has arrived (left hidden behind my bin, thank you very much mr.postman) and looks great; I'll be inflicting this on people at [livejournal.com profile] camgothcalling tonight :)

Tired now, time to pretend to work.

The ISO Standard is "a network of national standards institutes from 148 countries working in partnership with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives."

It's a way of standardising aspects of work practice and other things in order that other businesses can recognise how another is run and what sort of practices and documentation etc that company can be expected to maintain.

This is a good idea, but it could be taken further, since social situations are a very relative thing I hereby propose that the ISO standards committee hereby institute, fund and organise a set of ISO standard social settings such that for any given social occasion and ISO standard level for a variety of factors can be established. This will enable any visitor from any country and any party/etc to be aware of any quirks or expectations as regards to the social situation before they arrive and, thus forewarned, can prepare themselves appropriately for the situation ahead.

Important categories could be...

  • Attire; the kind of clothing that one is expected to wear.
  • Gifts; If one is expected to attend the function bearing any gifts
  • Conversation; Taboo areas of conversion at this function, expected areas of conversation at this function
  • Duration; Expected duration of the function.

and so on...
