update, this article here isn't actually that bad, considering some of the things that have been written about goths.

I however maintain there are several 'stages' of goth; which most goths go through, all hinged on the following question; "Are you a goth?"

Stage 1; Wanabie
"Oh yes, I'm a goth, look, black clothes, ankh necklace, boots, look at my boots, I listen to..." (etc)

Stage 2; Acceptance
"Yeah, I'm a goth, and?"

Stage 3; Depression
Long stare.
Non commital grunt.

Stage 4; Denial
No, I'm not a goth, yes, I wear bloody black and listen to the sisters and go to slimes, but I'm not a sodding goth, okay?

I used to think, when I was young; what would (person) do if they were in my situation? And then I'd realise that they'd never get in that situation.
Now I find myself thinking, what would I do if I was in their situation, and I realise I'd never get into their situation.
