"Nothing is static, everything is appalling, everything is falling apart."
If there's one thing I've learnt it's that you have to keep learning, you have to keep changing and realise that you are not going to be the same person you were last year or even last week. We evolve, we change, we learn. Values and ideals will be modified, things you believed will fade away, new ideals and concepts will emerge and feelings, thoughts, perceptions will all alter as time rolls exonerably onwards.
So what are we? Quite a lot of people spend time trying to unlock or discover exactly what they are. But in doing so, like the proverbial non-observable cat, in examining themselves they are changing who they are. Conversely without knowing what is going to happen to you you have no idea what you will become and since the future is (largely accepted to be) unknown you have no idea if that by next week what you are now will be a pale shadow of memory for you after some life changing event smacks you in the face and alters everything that you are beyond all recognition.
So what are we? Change. Mutability. Morphology. Adaptable threads of life that can look back at the events that have altered our life and concepts to make us what we are for this one moment. In three moments time it'll all be changing all over again.
Certain core concepts for us will remain static, for many people these are basic ideals and ideas; name, gender, morals, etc. But given the nature of todays society there is very little that can't change or alter our physical, social and mental state. We are change.
We don't truely exist beyond the fleeting second that vanishes the moment you think about it, the future can be prepared for, the past can be reflected on - but in the end these are just memories that could be lies and the unknown we're just trying to second-guess with no real knowledge of where we might be even in an hours time.
This is your life, it doesn't get any better than this.

Finally some sanity in the courts

Not that I'm saying it's good the kid broke his arm, but that people accept that accidents can happen where frikkin' lawsuits aren't required.
