Hi,

The situation regarding the member nominations for 'Eric the Penguin' for international member of the year may have come to your attention, so please excuse me contacting you directly as your contact details were listed.

Firstly, an apology if this has offended anyone; this is -not- meant as a serious attempt to get a penguin nominated for an award that should definately go to someone who has done serious work for the society, it was not intended to belittle these awards. Eric has not contributed anything like many, many more deserving members of the society.

I am hoping that the nominations for Eric will make people sit up and think "Who should I nominate" rather than "I should jump on the penguin bandwagon.".

If you have any questions regarding this whole situation, do ask and I'll do/explain what I can.

Congratulations.

I don't like the 'competitive nature' of the whole thing, but I can think of quite a few people who's names deserve to be seen.

Eric included, naturally.

Good thinking!
It's a good lesson to show that if enough people set their mind to it, they might achieve (unwanted) results.
The same way x members nominated Eric they could have nominated some fuckwit (their close friend but nobody who would deserve the award).
