Brute force and ignorance

My mouse started bizarrely double clicking and acting very strangely, refusing to click on windows correctly or basically being wierd.
I pondered the time honoured traditions of hardware support, the fundamentals I have upheld and maintained whenever working with delicate, complicated and sensitive pieces of electronic equipment.
I pounded the b*stard repeatedly with my fist.
And by jingo, it works again :)

IT professionalism

Robin, you're giving away all our technical support secrets...

Remember the IT oath you swore...

The secret is not that we thump it.

The secret lies in knowing *how* to thump it.

The same technique can be applied to the old skool NES game station consoles. You basically beat the hell out of the small box-like game thingy-majigger until it gives you a clear screen of Dragon Warrior or Mario Bros.
