Truth or fiction? But thoughts at least.
Quality of life... it's all about curtains. It's about heating and carpets, it's about convienance and changes. It's about fade-effect light bulbs and lifestyle optimisation for minimal effort. It's about eradication of any of the Darwinian factors from our lives to ensure that we basically ignore any evolutionary parameters any more and enter a quantum soup of humanity that is unpredictable and evolves through sheer chance rather than the ability to survive.
Darwinism, for us at least, is dead.
It's been growing that way slowly (at least for Western society) in that the basic survival likelyhood for most people and their subsequent (all important in the Darwinian eye) chances of reproduction are pretty good. The world population is exploding and we are generally speaking relaxing in easy chairs and drinking the consumer driven dancing story on the Television. Generally.
We're in a rut, and if anything we're trying to dig it deeper, society is clinging to it's love for commerce and people aren't going to survive because of strength, brains, physical abilities or suchlike. If the will is there (or so at least "society" tells us) then we can get a job and live on.
We support our downdrodden, organisations across the globe send world aid, support disabled physically and mentally people - many of whom would in an earlier age of mankind been discarded, feared or left to die. People are trying to make a difference and with it the theories is dying, at least in part. I'm not saying we're approaching utopia here, not am I saying any of these things are bad that people are helping others. No, what I'm saying that we are (trying at least) to build a world that ignores what is generally recognised to be the key point of evolution (survival of the fittest etc) and that therefore if successful mankind is likely doomed to stagnation on certain levels.

Are we going to evolve? Or is conviencance dooming us all?
